Iceni Academy Rewards System 

 Our Aim:  

The rewards systems aims are to:  

  • Reinforce the ethos of the academy by developing shared values and encouraging positive patterns of behaviour.  
  • Provide positive reinforcements and incentives to all students. 
  • Help develop students’ intrinsic motivation to learn.  
  • To help improve students’ effort, learning, attendance and overall performance  
  • To promote the positive things students, do each and every day.  
  • Encourage healthy competition between groups of students by sharing individual and house success through assemblies, displays and tracking personal progress through the Personal Record of Achievement.  
  • Increase the motivation of cohorts of students who could potentially underachieve. 
  • Reward pupils who consistently meet expectations. 
  • Achieve tiered rewards through, and at the end, of the Academic year.  
  • Provide a cohesive and consistent system to be applied throughout the academy.  
  • To help create a positive atmosphere that helps students recognise that their own positive actions helps to generate a better learning environment. 
  • To create a sense of belonging by giving staff the opportunity to recognise every student.

What do pupils get rewarded for in lesson?  Students can receive Positive points in lessons for meeting or exceeding our 3 key areas: 

Aim High

Rewards are given for showing excellent attainment or making significant progress in learning. This might include: 

  • Achieving high marks in classwork, assessments, or quizzes. 
  • Demonstrating a deep understanding of the topic. 
  • Producing work of outstanding quality or creativity. 
  • Making clear, measurable progress over time. 

Work Hard

Points are awarded for putting in consistent and exceptional effort. This includes: 

  • Staying focused and engaged throughout the lesson. 
  • Completing tasks to the best of their ability, even when they are challenging. 
  • Showing resilience by not giving up and trying again after setbacks. 
  • Being well-prepared and using lesson time effectively. 

Be Kind

Kindness is equally valued. Students may receive points for: 

  • Helping classmates who are struggling or need support. 
  • Using respectful, encouraging, and positive language. 
  • Supporting group work with fairness and cooperation. 

Displaying empathy, patience, or generosity in interactions with others. 

What is the structure of rewards across and Academic year? 

Daily-Weekly 
  • Positive Points 
  • PRA points for no Negatives and/or 100% attendance 
  • VIP Passes  
  • Pupils and Form Tutors will reflect on the previous week success by completing the Personal Record of Achievement within the planner.  
  • Form Tutors will reward all pupils who did not receive any negative points, with the PRA Behaviour Weekly Award bonus points on MCAS to add towards their Positive Points and Goal Difference.  
  • HOY will reward the top 5 achieving Positive Point pupils with a queue jump VIP pass.  
  • HOY will also reward a ‘Values’ VIP to a pupil who has shown significant progress of positivity based on Aim High, Work Hard, Be Kind in the week. These will be rewarded to pupils face to face, in assembly if appropriate, and home will be contacted. 
  • Club/Fixture teachers add Club Attendance/Representation Positive Points on MCAS. 
  • 100% attendance rewarded with PRA Attendance Weekly Award points and 100% club voucher for weekly canteen prize draw. 
Half Termly 
  • House Non-Uniform Day for winning the Knowledge Cup or Attendance Cup 
Termly  
  • Year group Success Assembly: 
  • Subject Recognition Certificates 
  • Form Positive Points Difference Certificate 
  • Form Attendance Certificate 
  • Work Hard, Aim High, Be Kind Certificates 
  • Positive Points (stand alone) Bronze to Triple Platinum Certificates 
  • House Positive Points Difference Recognition Club and Bonus Individual Raffle Ticket 
Yearly  
  • Academy final day celebration event 
  • Positive Points Difference: Prize Raffle 
  • Top PPD number of pupils from Year 7-10 will be offered a funded/subsidised external trip. 
  • Sports Awards Ceremony (PE Department and SLT) – invite only 
  • Subject Awards Evening (DOFs, Staff and SLT) – invite only  
House Based 
  • Sport Cup (PE Department) 

– 3 competitions, 1 per term. Sports Day, Cross Country and House Games. Cup awarded to winner of each competition (can change through the year). 30 personal positive points (House-Winners-Points) awarded to all winning House members in each competition. 

  • Knowledge Cup 
  • – 3 competitions, 1 per term, in Year Groups/Key Stages. Cup awarded to winner of each competition (can change through the year). Winning House earns a non-uniform day. 
  • Recognition Cup 

Positive Points Difference Counted every term. Cup awarded to leading House (can change through the year). Winning House pupils receive an extra end of year raffle ticket. 

  • Attendance Cup 

Attendance percentage Counted every term. Cup awarded to leading House (can change through the year). Winning House pupils receive a termly non-uniform day. 

  • Creative Arts Cup 

Based in KS3 lessons across the Creative Arts Subjects. Various rewards at various stages through the year. 

Individual Reward Further Details: 

ALL Pupils  Attend the final day rewards day celebrations. 
Houses  Each term, the Recognition Cup will be rewarded to the House with the current highest Positive Points Difference. Each pupil in the House will receive a bonus raffle ticket to be entered to the Positive Points Difference Raffle (PPDR). There are also 4 further House competitions where pupils can achieve rewards detailed later in this document. 

(Positive Points Difference is the sum of Positive Points minus Negative Points). 
Pupils with a Positive Points Difference at the End of each term.  Rewarded with a raffle ticket to the live last day prize draw.

The Iceni Way Award Pupils with the Highest Positive Points Difference at the End of the Year  Top PPD number of pupils from Year 7-10 will be offered a subsidised external trip. If a pupil does not take up the opportunity, this is passed to the next pupil in that Year Group on the list. If pupils are on a ‘tie’ the pupil with less negative events will be granted the opportunity first. The cut off point for this will be the 25th June, with the trip schedule to take place in the last few weeks of the academic year 

 
Year 11 Specific  This will be introduced throughout the Year by the Key Stage Team.
